Gophers QB Lindsey arrested on underage drinking, fake ID charges
Minnesota Golden Gophers quarterback Drake Lindsey faces charges of underage possession of alcohol and possession of fraudulent identification after an arrest early Friday in his hometown of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Washington County sheriff's intake records show Lindsey, 20, booked shortly after 1 a.m. and released on bond seven hours later. Bar staff near the University of Arkansas campus alerted police to a possible fake ID, which Lindsey admitted using, according to reports citing Fayetteville police.
Lindsey has court appearances set for June 1 and June 29. The Gophers athletic department stated it is aware of the incident and will handle it internally. Players remain on break following the conclusion of spring practices last weekend.
The quarterback from Fayetteville, who spurned overtures from his hometown Razorbacks to join Minnesota, enjoyed a standout redshirt freshman season in 2025. He started all 13 games, setting a program record for freshman wins as the Gophers posted an 8-5 record. Lindsey completed 249 of 386 passes for 2,382 yards with 18 touchdowns and six interceptions.
Gophers coaches hold final authority on Lindsey's status ahead of summer workouts.
