Grizzlies forward Clarke arrested on trafficking charges

Memphis Grizzlies forward Brandon Clarke was arrested Wednesday in Arkansas and booked into Cross County Jail on charges including possession of a controlled substance, trafficking a controlled substance, exceeding the speed limit, improper passing and fleeing. Grizzlies head coach Tuomas Iisalo acknowledged the report before the team's game against the New York Knicks that night but declined further comment.

Clarke, a seventh-year NBA veteran out of Gonzaga, was the 21st overall pick by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2019 draft and traded to Memphis on draft night. He earned All-Rookie honors in the 2019-20 season as a bench player, averaging 12.1 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game.

Over 309 career games with the Grizzlies, Clarke holds averages of 10.2 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game, with 50 starts. He has played just two games this 2025-26 season after right knee surgery and a right calf strain sidelined him.

The Grizzlies stated last month that Clarke remained in rehabilitation, with tests indicating additional recovery time before an expected return next season.
